'So... if I were to ask you out again... you would consider accepting?' The words were out of Jack's mouth before he could think about them, or more importantly, how they sounded.
He didn't mean ask out, as on a date. He wouldn't have had the nerve to ask her out!
He wasn't sure whether to correct himself or not. Perhaps she wouldn't pick up on it at all.

Caitlynn considered his question with a thoughtful look on her face. There was silence aside from the other chatter around them for a very long time as she thought. Finally, she smiled.
"Without hesitation."
It was true, she would accept should he ask her, and without the slightest bit of hestation. She enjoyed spending time with him and would like to spend more with him whenever possible.

'Phew,' Jack said jokingly, 'Thought you were going to turn me down then!' He laughed. He had really enjoyed her company.
He wondered how much longer they could stay there, because every so slowly it was turning to night and the other customers were slowly but surely leaving.
He pretended not to notice

"That is something I wouldn't consider too much." Caitlynn replied a bit drily, a hint of a smile on her lips. "After all, that would mean less time spent with you."
Out of the corner of her eyes, she noticed people leaving, but decided not to meantion anything. She was enjoying herself thoroughly. She finished off her drink and set down the empty cup with a satisfied air, then munched on another section of her pastry.
"So, do you have any siblings?"

'Only child. I guess it may explain why I value people being around me so much. It was pretty lonely growing up, we live in this tiny place in the middle of no-where. The only company I occassionally had was a cousin. She's like a year younger, we used to be really close.
What about you?'
He and Caitlyn had been at opposites so far, he wuldn't be surprised if she was one of six!
He remembered his own pastry, and finished it off. He had been far too busy talking the night away.

"Cousins are fun like that." Caitlynn nodded to herself as she spoke. She had grown up with a few cousins herself, wishing that they could have been her siblings.
"I'm an only child as well. Mum and dad never got around to giving me any siblings I guess. I would have liked some though. I'm sure you did too as a child. I was all alone when it wasn't summer time, quite sad really. But I had mum and dad, so that suited me well enough."
She smiled as she munched on another section of her pastry.

'You tend to make your own entertainment. I was a bit sad and always had my nose in a book or in my sketchpad if no-one was around. But hey, it kept me amused for hours.'
Hopefully she wouldn't thin that was too sad. Nearly all the other customers had left. He noticed that Caitlyn's cup was near empty. He wanted to get her a re-fill. But ten again, he didn't want to draw attention to the fact that they were one of the few left. He decided to leave it, although usually he wouldn't have.
It was dark outside now. A wind was whistling the a hairline crack in the window frame. He felt himself getting goosebumps, despite the fact there was a warm fire in the room.

"This is very true." Caitlynn agreed, nodding. "I usually read a book, helped mum with her alchemy stuff or went on long meanders. Simple but true, it would keep one entertained for hours. I'd draw occasionally, but not often because I thought I was horrible at it. Still do sometimes, but there's been slight improvement."
She smiled at him in an assuring manner as she crossed her ancles and sat back more comfortably in the chair. She busied herself with tying up her hair again, pretending not to notice the dwindling crowd.
She heard the wind outside, but hardly noticed. It couldn't be that cold outside, nothing was cold compared to Oxbow. She couldn't tell from where she sat what temperature it was outside, due to the closeness of the fire. She shrugged it off.

'Ah your meanders. Do you often meet strangers and agree for a cup of coffee then?' he said pretending to be offended, but with a little smile, she would know he was joking.
'You've already caught me drawing.' He thought about it, and decided to change the subject sharpish. After all, he still had the half-completed sketch of her. He didn't want her knowing that though.
They would surely be asked to leave any time. He didn't want to though. It had been a really good evening. But ten he felt bad for being just a tad selfish and wanting to keep the evening going.

"No, but then again, Oxbow is such a small town that you knows everyone in town. I usually don't drink coffee while out and about on my meanders because Oxbow doesn't have a cafe. Yes, Oxbow is that small." Caitlynn smiled.
She chuckled at his comment about being 'caught'. "I wouldn't know if I would use the word 'caught' when it comes to you drawing, more like my first sight of you was drawing."

Jack realised that 'caught' may have sounded 'guilty.' He laughed about it. It seemed strange that they'd been able to talk for so long. Them meeting seemed years ago.
'So I--,' He was cut off as the door slammed shut with the last of the other customers leaving.
He looked round. 'I guess it's kinda late huh? Maybe we should make a move?' He still didn't want to, but then again he didn't want to embarrasss her by having to be asked to leave.
((OOC: Don't worry, I always tend to be late with replies!))

Caitlynn looked around, realizing everyone had gone. She shrugged as she stood up. "If we must, then let us be gone. I'm sure we'll think of something to do."
She cast a glance at the painting of the ballerina one last time before offering her hand to Jack to help him up. Usually it was the other way around, but she didn't care. Common curtesy was something that had been drilled into her at a very young age.

'The night is still young...' he glanced at his watch '...ish.' He accepted her hand, but felt more than slightly bad for it not being the other way round. Not that he would be as bold as to offer his hand.
Her skin was suprisingly warm, how does she do that? But he decided not to preoccupy his mind with that too much now.
He went slightly ahead, and pushed the door open and they went out into the cold of night. He still had her hand. He didn't think she was pulling away, he tried not hang on, just in case she didn't want to hang on. Why exactly was a simple thing like holding a girls hand have so many complications?
He didn't go too far, they probably should head back to the castle, but he'd see what she wanted. 'Where to now? Could go on a walk round the grounds for a bit before heading back?'

Caitlynn followed him, a complacent smile on her face as they headed out into the cool night. Now this was more like it! She had been feeling a bit stuffy in the shop and was glad to get back out in the night air. She looked up at the stars with a smile, not noticing that Jack had let go of her hand, but she was still holding on ever-so gently to it.
His question drew her out of her star-gazing and she looked at him with sparkling eyes. "I'd like to walk around a bit, if you don't mind. The stars are really beautiful tonight."
She suspected she sounded like a silly three year old, but she didn't care. She loved the stars and cold nights, but she needed to make sure her companion for the evening agreed. If not, she could always take a walk up to the astronomy tower later by herself.

'Course not,' He said playfully, leading in the direction of Hogwarts, but more of the scenic route. 'It is nice out tonight,' he said agreeing with her.
The stars twinkled up above and for once Jack felt at ease, ever since the killing and all the other things tha school had thrown at him of late.
He still had hold of her hand. 'This is slightly random but I've gotta ask, how are you so warm?!' He did feel bad, his own cold hands draining her body heat.
They turned a corner out of Hogsmeade. 'Where to m'lady?'
