((invite only))
The common room was the most awkward place Adara could be at the moment. Dinner had just ended, so it was packed to the brim with rowdy students. She was lounging in a chair by the fire, conscious of the glances thrown her way at increasingly fast intervals by groups of boys, particularly the younger ones. The naive ones. Then there were the glares of disdain coming from the clusters of girls nearby--they hated her, or what she represented. Adara was the girl who could get any guy she wanted--she had the body, the face, the hair, the charm, and the will. But that wasn't the real her, the one no one knew. She had a reputation, though.
Fed up with the awkwardness, Adara got up gracefully and slipped out of the portrait hole, to the disappointment of some and the gratification of others.
For some reason, she just couldn't handle the attention. Not tonight. She wanted to be alone and read her book... A grin settled on her face and she strode purposefully toward the library, where she sneaked in, grabbed Engaging the Enemy from it's hiding spot, and sneaked back out, without the librarian noticing a thing. Now, where to read... she thought, glancing out the nearest window. The sun was beginning to set, casting an orange glow across the landscape. There was enough light out there to read by...so out there is where Adara went.
As she made her way across the grounds toward the lake, Adara's mind caught up with her steps, and brought thoughts of Dane and their...excursion back to her attention. She wasn't really sure what to make of it. He seemed like a pretty cool guy...he was hot, and witty, and charming. A lot like herself, actually. And trying to escape the pains of heartache. She was glad she could help him, but Adara couldn't help but wonder if he'd still want to talk to her after everything was said and done, and he was over the other chick. She always wondered thus after she'd served her time as some guy's distraction, or adventure.
She shook those thoughts away as she came upon the lake, though, intent on losing herself in her book. Adara found a spot by a small tree on the lake's edge, where she curled up and opened up the book to start reading. The air was cool, but it didn't bother her in the slightest. Her heart was ice, after all, and that was much, much colder than the wind's kiss on her cheek.
Walked away, heard them say:
"Poison hearts will never change"
Walk away again.
"Poison hearts will never change"
Walk away again.

Turned away in disgrace,
Felt that chill upon my face,
Cooling from within.
Felt that chill upon my face,
Cooling from within.

Just like romantic verses,
Just like a joyous end,
Just like a memory, it twists me...
Just like a joyous end,
Just like a memory, it twists me...
