'It's easier with short hair,' he commented when she cursed the wind. He wasn't sure if she heard.
He did politely laugh at her attempt at humour. It wasn't the best of jokes. But at least he knew she was making the effort, and she was interested in talking to him.
'Course,' he said slightly surprised she was asking to sit with him. After all, it seemed like a strnage thing to ask. He was pleased though. It was a rarity that anyone this nice stayed to talk with him for this long. He most certainly wasn't complaing.
ooc: sorry for the rubbish post - no muse for this post - but I'll be better in the next couple!

"Well, my long hair is my vanity." She ran her hands through it it get the small knots out. "Has been since I was little. I guess it's because my mum's always had long hair and taken good care of it despite being an alchemist."
She finished unknotting her hair from itself and her earrrings, smiling at his short laugh at her attempted humor. It was nice to know that even if she did tell a pretty bad joke, he'd still laugh, even if it was only to be polite.
"Thanks." Caitlynn sat beside him and immediately relief flooded through her body. "That's better." She looked around for inspiration of something to speak on. Nothing caught her interest, so she looked back at Jack. "So what do you normally do in Hogsmede besides hang at the cafe?"
ooc: it's all good -patpat-

Jack didn't know whether to comment on Caitlyn's hair. It was nice hair, but he wasn't sure if he knew her well enough to comment. He decided to take a chance and comment anyway. 'It's understanable.'
'Not much, I used to go there loads with when we first were allowed to go. Guys just tend to want to go into Zonko's. I think I prefer a quiet drink in the pub myself,' he laughed at himself. 'I sound like I'm so old when I say that!' At this age he was supposed to enjoy going out, and pratcial jokes. 'Where do you tend to go?'

Caitlynn smiled. "I suppose it is. It's something I've come to think of as normal." She shrugged as she thought about it for a moment. "Perhaps one day I will have my hair cut shorter, but I doubt it."
She giggled when he spoke of pubs and sounding old. "You're only as old as you think you are, Jack." She grinned slightly at him. She seemed to think about his question for a moment. "Oh, not much. Once in a while I'll to Zunko's to look for something to buy my dad. He likes odd things to collect and use once in a while. Or sometimes I'll wander into the tea shop and get something if I feel like it. My trips to Hogsmede are rather unadventurous if you think about it."

He laughed when she laughed. She had a sunny yet contagious laugh, he found himself laughing whenever she did.
'I suppose you are sort of limited by wat you can do at Hogsmeade...' He liked that idea, then they could both be classed as officially not boring.
It was nicer now that Caitlyn was sat up here with him. It felt like barriers were now down, because they were on the same level. That probably sounded strange. There was a silence now, but it didn't feel uncomfortable now.

"Yeah, especially when you're by yourself amidst a bunch of people you don't know. If you dance by yourself people stare at you like you've lost your mind. What they think is wrong with appreciating good music to the fullest, I'll never know." Caitlynn shook her head.
She still remembered the time she had started dancing by herself and had gotten such weird looks that she stopped and slipped out of sight into the tea shop. She had never felt more embaressed in her life.
She swung her legs back and forth during the silence, smiling in content. This had turned out to be her best meander ever, and she was no longer bored. "Well, I can officially say i'm no longer bored." She said into the silence, staring out at the pitch. She looked at Jack. "What about you?"

Jack laughed, but he tried to control it. 'People to tend to stare when ....' he laughed again. He couldn't help it. 'You just randomly started dancing!' He controlled the laughter finally and just smiled at her. She was quite possibly the most random person he'd met.
'I'm glad I could be of service,' Jack said jokingly. He pondered being bored for a minute. He wasn't bored and she was defiently good company, but he didn't want to sound over enthusiastic. He finally nodded 'Nope, not bored.'
He looked at the darkening sky. He knew that it would be time to move soon. They shouldn't stay out her for much longer, the temperatures were dropping. Even the quidditch players had called practise a day. He hadn't even noticed they had gone until recently.

Caitlynn laughed as he laughed, his laugh was contagious. Finally, she managed to stop, her sides slightly sore from laughing so hard. "Yes, that's true." She grinned slightly at her own silliness.
"Well, it's good to know I'm not boring you. Some people find me very boring." She looked out at the setting sun while shaking her head. "I'm used to it though."
She could feel the temperature dipping down, but was not phazed. This was nothing compared to evening in Oxbow. Even in winter, Hogwarts was warmer to an extent. She still wore a coat to protect herself from the cold and getting sick. She tilted her head to one side as she considered the setting sun. Soon it would be time to start moving.

Jack frowned and inclined his head slightly. He didn't know how anyone could find her boring. It was a biazarre thig to say.
'Well, you're definetly not boring me. In fact I think we should have moved about an hour ago... but to be honest I don't want to.' He hoped that didn't sound over friendly. But c'est la vie if it did.
'Well, looks like it's off to Hogsmeade for me... I might see you if in the coffee shop sometime,' he was reluctant o leave but osunded hopeful. After all, he was hoping he would run into her again. Arranged or not.

Jack's talking drew Caitlynn's attention back to him. She smiled, her gray eyes sparkling in the dim light. "Really? Same here." She brushed a stray hair from her face, still smiling.
She seemed to be thinking as she sat there, as if she hadn't heard what he had said about Hogsmede. The reality was, however, she had heard every word. She didn't want to go back to the castle and be by herself.
She shifted on the bench. "I could follow you and we could hang out at the coffee shop." She paused, then added as an after thought: "If that's alright with you of course." She found herself almost nervous, which was ridiculous because he was a nice person. She shook her head at her nervousness and waited for his reply.

Jack seemed surprised that Caitlyn was surprised, 'Don't be too shcoked that I enjoy your company!'
He wanted to jokingly say that it wasn't alright. But he did want her to come with him. He wasn't about to risk upsetting her or anything. 'Maybe you don't have to follow me there, maybe we could walk together?' It sounded like he was suggesting something radical, the way he said it. He followed it up with a smile, just so she knew he was being sincere.
'Please, get a jacket first though,' he said mock serious. 'I don't want you getting a cold because you came out with me!'

"I'm not that shocked, surprised and amused are more accurate." Caitlynn replied with a wry smile.
She thought about his offer to walk together for a minute or so, then grinned slightly. "That would be a lot easier than following you. Not to meantion that we can talk easier walking together than if we have to talk loudly to be heard." She conceded. "Alright, let's do it."
She laughed softly and rolled her eyes. "Oh alright, if it will ease your mind about me. But honestly, I'm not cold and this is nothing compared to winter."
