It was late, too late to really do anything without the risk of being caught out of bed by a prefect, or a professor. Then again it could be just late enough where they too had gone to bed, the sleep that invaded this Ravenclaw’s mind. Sitting up in her dorm Feli was reading a book but the light was annoying the others in the room so she made her way to the common room, just to find that it was cold and terribly uncomfortable. She lit the fireplace letting a flash of lightning strike the wood, keeping the thunder low to in auditable.
That did not do too much except create a low gloom over the room that made it terribly dreary and utterly uncomfortable. Feli had not been able to sleep the past days, for what she had not clue, but it was making the bright cheery girl a bit warn down and tired. She had not even taken up Jack on his offer of cappuccino in Hogsmeade. She liked him, he was pleasant and refreshing as if was hard for her to really connect with anyone given what she was…
She always would doubt herself and her value to anyone because she felt that the veela magic was too strong to resist. She had met the Head boy and he did not see affected by her dance and song when he accidentally entered the Room of Requirements. That could be from a number of reasons though one being he was also part whitelighter. It was so amazing to hear someone was also part whitelighter, an angel sort of speak.
She had not met him since then, his name was Dominic, he was nice too, as Jack was now. However Jack still did not know about her heritage ad that could really turn things sour. Feli often gave up, letting people drift away from her in fear that they may come too close to her. She decided to work on her magic, the magic she was never fully trained in, and to do that she had to once again enter the Room of Requirements.
Quick feet fluttered on the cold floor of the Hogwarts castle, silent the blue fuzzy slippers found their way to the room few knew about, however it was becoming general knowledge, Hogwarts was not the best place to keep secrets. The blond haired girl paced three times past the wall, looking quite foolish if it was not the right spot.
A place to practice orbing. A place to practice orbing. A place to practice orbing.
The door appeared and with a single motion she vanished into the wall.
Once inside the room had candles all around the room, books along the walls. Feli had no idea where she should begin, how do you practice something you never done before?

((OOC:Hope you don't mind if I drop by?))
It had been a long time since Jack had seen Feli. Ever since they had studied together in the library, one thing and another had just been getting in the way and he hadn't had time to catch up with her. He felt really bad about it. Usually he scared girls off, and he hoped that he hadn't done the same with Feli. She was one of the few girls that he was really comfortable with, they just seemed to get on.
He was up that night. It was late but once again he realised that he had an essay due for the next day and he hadn't done anything. He stayed up until the early hours, writing away. When his digital watch beeped to signal that it was the hour he decided to give up, if he said that he'd tried but gotten stuck, he was sure he'd get away with it again.
As he was coming out of his dormitory he saw Feli. At first he thought that he was seeing things, it was late after all, but no, it was definitely her. He watched her enter the room and wasn't sure if to follow her or not. If she had been avoiding him, she then wouldn't want him intruding. He decided to follow anyway and hope for the best.
He went to the door and opened it silently. He entered and he saw her. She hadn't seen him yet. He silently shut the door, but then thought it maybe strange if he just watched her. So he coughed gently, as not to startle her.

Feli was not one to startle that well but at this time in the evening it happened as she heard Jack cough she spun around to see him standing there. What should she say? She was not really sure, she still was not sure what the room would do to offer some sort of guidance in the whitelighter skill of orbing. That all did not mater though as she smiled seeing Jack, and hoped that she did not look completely like a fool in her pajamas.
Star filled blue and purple pants that seemed to have stars actually moving on them, and a navy blue tank she must have looked rather funny standing in the middle of an empty room preparing to do who knows what. “Jack, what are you doing up so late?” she asked knowing the question would soon be directed at her. She wanted to learn more, she was so skilled at making storms she wanted to know how to do other things that came in her heritage. Time would only tell if she would be able to do them, and do them well.

Jack was going to ask Feli the same question. 'Hey, that was my opener!' he said jokingly. 'I was going for a walk, after doing yet another essay... I saw you go in. I followed, sorry, I probably shouldn't have...' he said slightly embarrassed and looking at his feet. He'd left his shoes behind.
He noticed that Feli was in her pajamas. He too was slightly dressed for bed. He was in a large mis-shapen t-shirt with a faded band logo on the front. It was donkey years old, and slightly past it's best, but he hadn't really planned on having company. Luckily he still had his jeans that he was wearing earlier this day on.
'What you up to here?' Jack said trying to break the silence. He then realised he had been more then slightly rude asking that, after all, she had obviously wanted privacy. He felt the need to apologise again. But just stayed quiet.

She smiled at Jack when he said that, he was funny, she liked that. At Hogwarts it was so refreshing. A little giggle escaped before he asked her what she was doing out at night. She was not sure how to respond, should she tell him about her heritage? Would he think it was completely weird? She decided to take a chance at it, and hope for the best, at least she was not in here singing again, that could have been interesting with her Veela ancestry.
“Well I suppose that I forgot how to sleep, but then again who sleeps anymore in Hogwarts?” She said still wondering why the room was like this and what it was suppose to do to help her with orbing, a whitelighter trait. “Actually I was fed up with not being able to do things that I should be able to. I came here to practice some magic, magic that is based in my heritage, my fathers side to be exact.” She said so obscurely that she was even confused. She did not want to avoid it any longer.
“My father was a whitelighter, and I have yet to learn the magic they have, and I really want to.” She said honestly, she figured that if she could control that then maybe she could control som eof her vela traits. She remembered her first year at Hogwarts, someone girl had punched her, and tough little Feli stood up to her…well sort of…
She turned into a full veela, the freakishly bird like creature that was nothing to be fooled with, since then she tried everything to make those traits dormant. “However I don’t even know where to start, and this room does not give me to many clues on how to orb.” She said not even sure that Jack would know what she was talking about, then again he could and totally want to leave.

Jack had to admit he hadn't slept right for weeks now. He felt unsettled. he didn't know why. he couldn't place his finger on it. There was something different in the air. He left the question hanging and unanswered.
Jack wasn't fazed by the fact Feli was a whitelighter. Since he had come to Hogwarts, he had met a real range and variety of people and...creatures. Back in the day before he went to Hogwarts he might have been shocked, but not now.
'I'm sorry, I'll be pretty useless then. But I could help you figure out why you got this room. This may seem like a pretty lame idea, which you may have already tried, but there may be something on the bookshelves?' He walked over and started looking at the different spines. He didn't really know what he was looking for - 'Orbing for Dummies?!'
'I kinda envy you. I'm just boring old Muggle. Nothing interesting, nothing special. You're whitelighter! That's pretty cool.' Then a thought occured to Jack. 'You're not full whitelighter are you?'

Gosh if only everything was that simple, Feli wanted to be boring and simple. “Well I am only half whitelighter, on my fathers side. He has clipped his wings since then so I don’t have anyone to talk to about that side of the family. The others side is a little worse.” Feli hoped that he would not get angry, some people did, others did not care, but liked her more for the fact she was ‘pretty’.
“My mother was a veela.” She said with little more. Some people suspected it of her, the blonde hair, tone skin, and overly pleasant face she often hated that most would attribute hard work and taking care of yourself purely to that side of her family. In fact she took a lot after her father, who at the moment was just another muggle, no magic, not a single power only love in his heart.
“I have tried to look for books, but since it is not exactly that mainstream to be part whitelighter I have come up short. However the room obviously was designed for something. And books are a wonderful place to start.” She said heading over to the shelves that had many books, but no titles on the spine of them. It was odd but then again that was Hogwarts for you.
She looked back at Jack hoping that he was not offended that she had not said anything earlier, and that he was not doubting his own feelings (if there was any to begin with) about Feli. It was so often that people turned away rather then think they are having false feelings because of the hard to control veela charm.

She was a veela. That would explain why at first he couldn't stop looking at her! But that did complicate matters. He did have feelings for her. He didn't just like her because she was beautiful, but also because she was fun, and easy to be around and... but he doubted highly if he would ever act on on his feelings, and that was before he knew she was a veela.
It changed everything, because although he knew his feelings were real, he would probably have to be fighting off hoardes of others. But he did understand why she hadn't old him, after all it hadn't exactly come up in conversation before. He decided not to offer any comment, and continued looking at spines of books.
He gave it up as a bad job and looked around the room with a frown. Perhaps there was some clue as to how to help her to orb in the room. There were strange markings on the floor, perhaps they were like, landing marks?
'Would those be of any help at all do you think?'

Well it went better then she thought as he said nothing to her about her heritage, she took what she got though, and accepted it. At least he did not leave, running out like her first boyfriend had done to her, she had really cared for him, but he did not think that it was true, and she could not blame him.
The room, which was a good topic to stay on track with, the books where strange, no titles on them. She pulled one out as Jack spoke about the markings on the flood. It was completely interesting and totally foreign to her. She wished that her father would have been able to teach her more then he had. Since he did not have the powers of a whitelighter anymore he was of little help.
“I assume so, the room is some pretty powerful magic and it had to make everything for some reason or another.” She said putting the book back without even opening it. She bent down and looked that the marks that seemed to be etched into the ground, as she touched them the room became brighter, brighter until it was nearly white.
“That was weird. Now what?” she said looking around at the now bright room the books had words on the spines now, not exactly easy reading by the looks of them either. She picked up a book from the shelf, and skimmed though the pages, apparently the whitelighters power comes from good, and light. Hence the light in the room and also her difficulty with mastering the powers.
Veelas where not evil, but they where not generally good either. That was the major problem holding her back, and she had already knew that, her veela powers where much stronger then her whitelighter powers, her Elementalist ability was proof of that. “That does not look promising.” She said out laud not forgetting about Jack. “Apparently before I can even try I have to find a way to make my veela half dormant, or at least be able to control them, 100%” She sounded rather disappointed, she had been working on that for years!
She loved to sing and dance but could not because she could not control the veela, the hypnotic tendencies that make men complexly crazy and women completely angry. She had yet to even come close to blocking that ‘ability.’

Jack used a hand to shield his eyes as the room got brighter and brighter, the light wasn't blinding, just bright. When it subsided, he thought something may have happened, he was slightly confused that it hadn't.
She did sound rather disheartened, but Jack was forever the optimist 'Does it say anything about trying to make your veela half dormant?' he hopefully, he doubted whether it would, he had found that books never seemed to help in practical situations, but it was worth a try. He stood at the back of her, but because he was quite a bit taller then her, he could stilll read the book over her shoulder. He moved away not knowing whether she would be comfortbale with him standing there, he went to the bookshelf and started looking at others to see if the were of any help.
He did feel more then slightly useless, after all what help could a Muggle like him be to her in the area of orbing. It was times like this when he wished he wasn't just ordinary.

“That would be great, only problem is that I have been trying for years. Ever since I first started showing powers. I have yet to even come close to it.” She said with little hope, the room was still bright but she had gotten used to it, it was actually quite calming. Jack behind her she felt safe, and almost natural she almost wanted to lean on him, however he had moved out of the way, and Feli did not want to push anything.
She felt like a fool though in the room hoping that somehow a miracle would happen and she would learn how to orb, but it did not look promising.
“You know, I really wanted to learn how to heal others, but that really seems far away if I can’t even figure out orbing. If I could orb, I could go to the Elders and learn more, but chances are they would kick me out anyhow.” She said deciding to take a seat on the floor as she looked at Jack. Her family history was strange for sure, and it can only be natural why they don’t like whitelighters to have relationships on earth; “It messes with the cosmos I guess.”

'I guess you could try asking someone who has both halves. Or a whitelighter. Or a veela. What about your parents? You could try them?' Jack realised after the words had left his lips that he probably shouldn't enquire into people's parents. Just because he was muggle and still had both parents, he took it for granted that everyone else did. He tried not to notice his mistake and just wait for the answer, after all, Feli may have a fairly normal home life after all.
He had actually given up on the room being some help to Feli, it did not give up it's secrests so easy.
'Why would they kick you out?' said Jack slightly confused. 'What have you done to mess with the cosmos?!' he said a joking and half mock horror tone.

“Ah, parents are difficult. Have you ever met a full veela? They are not exactly pleasant, though they do have their good days. I have not seen my mother in years so that well of information is not really that wet, and my father clipped his wings a few years back, so he no longer has any magical powers, and is not associated with the elders or the whole section of the magical world.” Feli said realizing how completely hopeless she sounded. She did not exactly want to be that way, that was something common her mother would do, get attention.
“Gosh I don’t want to sound like such a downer. However there is another student at the school that is a whitelighter, I believe he is half Lycan too. I only met him once though and have not run into him again.” She said offering a little hope as the room began to dim a little bit from the brightness.
“I don’t want to bore you with whitelighter 101 wish-wash. Basically they are not supposed to have relationships with mere mortals because they are technically immortal. They are ordinary people who had done good deeds in their life and after death where offered the opportunity to help new magical folk come into their powers.” For not knowing all that much feli seemed to be a well of knowledge, but this was all basic history lessons, noting concrete or instructions on how things operate.
“I went up to the elders once, I don’t remember much, they where yelling at my father, saying he was a bit weak because he fell for a mortal, who just happened to be a veela.” Feli was such the talker! She felt a bit odd talking about her family with someone she had not spoken about it before with anyone, and not in such candid way. Jack was such a good listener.

Jack didn't have any magical abilites, but he could sense her unease, maybe she felt that she said too much. But he didn't mind, after all it was far more interesting then his lineage. Then again he didn't want to pry or make her feel uncomfortable. 'Good job you're not a full veela then. Because you are exactly pleasant. And don't even begin to think you bore me. Because you don't. I enjoy listening to you.' Jack had just paid her a compliment. That as unusual for him. Not that he wasn't complimentary, more of the mere fact he had said it without burbling or sounding stupid. He felt secretly pleased, but just continued their conversation.
'I don't think the elders would hold a grudge to you. You can't choose your parents, so it's not your fault.' At this point Jack would have asked about her own relationships, if he had been braver, but as usual he wasn't. After all, one small personal victory for the day was enough. He didn't want to push his luck.

Feli smiled when Jack said he enjoyed listening to her, “Thanks Jack, that is sweet. I feel like my life story is annoying and want to have a simple family.” Feli said enjoying the time they where having in the room of requirements, that for once did nut actually help her at all.
“That is true but they are mad at my dad, since he fell for a veela, I guess he was soused to be smarter then that. I mean how does that make me feel when I am half veela. I wonder if I will ever find someone who likes me for me; and it has nothing to do with that stupid veela charm.” Feli realized that that could be rather embarrassing, but she felt comfortable around Jack and hope for the best. If anything they could at least be good friends.
